Save more energy with Temperature Limits
For an easy way to prevent others from adjusting your temperature too high or too low, using temperature limits on your Sensi app can help.
What are Temperature Limits
Temperature Limits allow you to put parameters on the highest temperature and lowest temperature your Sensi Smart Thermostat can be set to. These set point adjustments are incredibly important and useful if someone else may be occupying a space where you pay the utility bill.
For example, if you have a vacation rental property, you may want to limit the air conditioning from being set below 72 on hot days to control costs. And on cold days, you can set a maximum temperature that the thermostat can hit.
Once a Temperature Limit has been set, your Sensi Smart Thermostat will show “Limit” when someone tries to adjust past the Temperature Limit.
This allows you to set a range of comfortable temperatures without the thermostat being adjusted to extreme temperatures—which uses more energy, raises utility costs and causes additional strain on your HVAC unit.
Setpoint range
Temperature Limits can be set anywhere between the two setpoints of 45 and 99 degrees F.
Save more energy
Limiting the temperature range can prevent excessive energy usage.
According to Energy.gov, there are ideal temperatures for your thermostat to maximize energy efficiency.
The ideal temperature for cooler months is 68 degrees while in warmer months, Energy.gov recommends setting your thermostat at about 78 degrees. While these may seem extreme, there are other ways to keep warm or cool by using additional layers of clothing or fans to offset high utility bills. You can save as much as 10% a year simply by setting your thermostat back 7-10 degrees for 8 hours a day.*
Keep in mind, these temperatures may vary depending on where you live and if you have other physical or health conditions that require adjustments to temperatures.
